Lauren and Ben’s elopement was in California, but it felt like a summer day in Colorado. We spent a good bulk of the day heading out for hikes and then taking cover from a downpour, which added a whole new element of adevnture. I can honestly say that was the most steps I have ever taken while working, but I would love to photograph weddings like this every day.
They began the morning with reading letters at sunrise with their dog, Ziggy, by their side. Then Lauren picked wildflowers and made her bouquet and Ben chopped some wood for that evening. Since they were camping up in the rocks, hair and makeup happened down in the parking lot since the hair and makeup artist needed a generator. After hiking back up and getting dressed, Lauren and Ben had one of the most epic first looks I’ve ever seen. We hustled over to the ceremony spot to beat to dark gray clouds that were quickly approaching. After one more storm, we ended the day with champagne and sunset photos.
I’m super grateful to have worked with John from Steelhead Cinema for Lauren and Ben’s elopement and I can’t wait to see what he creates. Andrea Gillis from Sages Salon did Lauren’s hair and makeup and Dana Ashley, who owns Sages, styled their campsite. Lauren’s dress is from Tulip Bridal in Issaquah, Washington.
