I met Mamiko while chowing down on some Thai brunch in the garden of a Buddhist Temple in Berkeley (it sounds much more serene than it is in real life, nonetheless is the perfect place for your Sunday morning if you’re up there). She lives in the building of a dear friend of mine, so on our car ride home we ended up talking about photography, personal projects, and pursuing your art (while also, in her case, being an accountant).
So, when Adam and I returned last weekend for Bay to Breakers (so many naked people older men…) we connected again to take some photos. She shared about the art that she has collected over the years from living with other artists, supporting kickstarter campaigns that are pursuing peace, and from her travels. I’m thinking about changing the name of this project from “instagramers at home” to “kindred spirits” because I’m finding pieces of myself in others that find themselves living in the tension of their dreams/values/life realities. I have loved working on this project and can’t wait to meet more people (Hint, hint. Connect with me if you’re interested).
