California Coast Elopement // Alexa & Connor

This elopement was featured on The Wedding Standard.

Sometimes it takes me a while to share images. Often it’s because life is wild but sometimes it’s because I’m holding them close and it feels too vulnerable to share. I’ve been dreaming of documenting elopements that Adam officiates for a while now. The idea was that we could offer an intimate ceremony in a breathtaking location without involving too many moving parts.

When I first spoke with Alexa and Connor they said they had been planning to get married in Minnesota, where they live, but they were realizing the big wedding and all the planning that came with it just wasn’t for them. So I floated the idea by them and they loved it. Adam officiated and did the video (video coming soon) and they hired Sarah with Embark to set up the most gorgeous picnic for after the ceremony. Sarah also coordinated the floral pick and helped with the first look. It made everything flow so easily and they just got to enjoy each other.

During their vows, they had a time where it was just the two of them overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Adam and I documented from further away to give them space. It was a very powerful event to witness. Adam then stepped back in to pronounce the married and to give them a blessing. It was simply beautiful.

After a quick photo sesh down on the beach, we headed nearby where Sarah from Embark had put together the most beautiful picnic. Alexa and Connor got to celebrate their wedding together and invited us to join them in some cheese and crackers. A wedding day where you get to eat with the bride and groom? That was definitely a first for us.

I feel like I say this is every post, but every time I drive home from a wedding, whether it’s 300 people large or just the 4 of us, I’m overwhelmed with the honor of being present and documenting it all. I’m grateful for the trust that people put in us. It feels sacred and this day touched us with an extra dose of a sense of honor. Thank you, Alexa and Connor.
