Wedding Invitation Styling

When shelter at home started, a few different editorial shoots were sadly, but understandably, cancelled. I was still able to get my hands on an invitation suite from Look Good On Paper Co. from our postponed shoot with Brooke Nicole Events. I wanted to at least do some invitation stying with all my new found free time. I knew right away that I wanted to give them a tropical feel. I snipped off leaves from a monstera plant that needed a trim anyway and got a few petals from our bougevvilla plant outside. I also borrowed my friends wedding rings since mine is pretty simple.

The suite was really versatile and I realized it could also go a softer and more minimal route. So I styled it using some dried florals from Aurelia Flora and styled it with a soft blush ribbon.

Tips for your wedding day

This whole process took about an hour and a half. Because it’s a bit time consuming, here’s some tips you can use to maximize your photographer’s time on the wedding day:

  • Send your photographer two full copies of the invitation suite (with the envelope intact) before your wedding. They can then style it without the extra so they have a game plan for the wedding day. By sending two, you give them the option to use the front and back of a card in the same image.
  • Give your photographer a good idea of the style of your wedding day so they know what elements to draw from.
  • Ask your floral designer to save a few odds and ends to give to your photographer when they arrive.
  • Have all your details gathered and ready. This way they know what they can include. Include all the rings so they don’t use time hunting the other one down.
  • If your wedding day is tight on time, some photographers will request to take home a bouquet to at least photograph the suite with some floral elements the next day. This depends on your photographer.
